Memories Revisited

It's still raining outside and how i wonder why? I'm sitting in front of my computer and my head is absolutely blank, I don't know where to start. My hands is itching to write entries to this blog. I came up with a "Mini" review about my past memories that I have gone through my life. Nothing much really...

November 2010,
From left : Sani, Din, Wak and my lovely wife
That is the date were I've decided to take on a "Mini" company trip with my fellow workers. They deserve the break and I came along with a proposal on taking them on a trip to Genting Highlands. All of them have never been before to Genting so my wife and I decided to bring them along. At least, once in their life they can tell to others that they have been there before..

Sani was the only one that was brave enough to ride the Space Shot

This trip was held in the year 2010. Another surprise is waiting them this year, when I have booked them an exclusive trip to Pulau Langkawi this October 2011. We'll be having a 5 day holiday at Pantai Cenang and all of the expenses is paid by the company.

Non-Stop Rain

Its been 4 days and 3 nights since it starts raining. Ever since i came back from Langkawi, the weather here in Pagoh has consistently shows no sign of improving. It makes things hard for me to get around to work. None the less, I'm still trying to find new and exciting topics to post in my blog in the near future. In the meanwhile, below are the pics which was taken at the back of my house. As you can see in the pic, the neighbor's land is filled up with water due to the bad weather.

Well Deserved Holiday - Part 2

   Langkawi Island

Here's some of the pictures we took during our vacation in Langkawi Island.

Night Life at Cenang

Overall, it was an exciting vacation despite we plan it in the last minute. I can't wait for the next trip where will be going around the 8th of October this year. Insyallah.

Well Deserved Holiday - Part 1

Its been a while since my wife and I went for a long vacation. We've already booked our tickets via Air Asia but, it was on October 2011. Another 8 months to go.We need a holiday...badly. Despite all the commotion on where to go for our vacation, we've booked last minute tickets to Langkawi 1 day before the actual departure. Talking about last minute decision huh?!
My wife scrambled to pack our things and of course went haywire booking hotel for us. Since it was a last minute decision, we have a hard time making reservations for hotels. Mostly all of em was full. I was wondering why the hell is it full this time of a month. I mean, we've booked the flight which dated on the 20th of January until the 26th of January. What was going on? Are there any events held in Langkawi this time of the month? I did my own research on the internet and find out that Le Tour De Langkawi was going to be held on the 23rd of January in Langkawi. OMG! The flight has been booked but we haven't got any accommodations yet available. Being the "superwomen" that my wife is, she managed to squeeze a reservation for us at Kampung Tok Senik Resort on the 20th until 23rd of January. I ask her, where are we going to stay after the 23rd? In the car? Laughs* We still got 3 days, and she did a little research on the web and finally managed to book a hotel at Pantai Cenang.
On the day of our supposedly departure to Langkawi, we left the house early around 5:00 a.m in the morning, despite of our 9:00 p.m flight. We left Pagoh and heads towards the PLUS highway heading towards KL. It was a cold and breezy morning. Not much cars until we've reached Melaka. It was a slow and enjoyable ride which i take the opportunity for my wife and I discussed on what are the activities once we've reached Langkawi. Once we've reached KL around 9:00 a.m, we decided to watch movies at Mid Valley and went for a little shopping spree before heading out towards LCCT.
Once we've reached LCCT, we went through the car parks browsing for a nice parking space.Mind you, we'll be parking the car for 7 days straight. How much will it cost me to park at LCCT ?. I know that it is safe but the one that's really concerning me the most is the parking fee. Laughs* . At that time really, i wouldn't care less about the parking fee. All that I'm excited was to get on board the flight. My budget for the 7 day parking was around RM 250- 300, which I have set aside in case I "accidentaly" use em.
Precisely at 10.15 p.m, we've touchdown at Langkawi International Airport. We quickly made our way through other passengers and went looking for a cab to take us to the resort. At this time, we haven't decided yet on renting cars since we've arrived late and tought it will be a waste since it was late. We've decided to rent it the next morning and take a cab to Tok Senik Resort which cost us around RM 18. Upon arriving,  I went to the reception to check-in and retrieve the keys to the room only to discover that our room was not how was it supposed to be. Tired, exhausted, and hungry from the trip, I've decided to settle the matter tomorrow with the management. It wasn't that bad anyway but, my wife thinks so. Laughs* She cant sleep the whole night.
Kampung Tok Senik Resort, which is located at Lot 1577, Kawasan Mata Air, Mukim Ulu Melaka is a 3 star hotel resort surrounded by gardens.Typically all rooms at Kampung Resort are air conditioned. It is a great place for honeymooners. Its a quiet place where you can enjoy the greenery of the gardens and away from the city. One night at the resort costs us about RM150 for a room plus a buffet breakfast. Which was a great bargain for budgeted traveler like us. But getting around the resort is quite a bit tricky. The accommodations are far from the reception and the Warung Tok Mat – a coffeehouse in Langkawi that serves guests 24 hours a day. Other than that, this place was great. With all the greenery and forest surrounds the accommodations, this would be a great place to relax and enjoy what nature gives to us. All of the rooms are given classic names such as, Rumah Pak Hamid, Rumah Pak Mansor and so on. I've really enjoyed my stay there thus far.

On the 23rd of January, we checked ourselves out of the resort and head towards Malibest Resort which is located at the heart of Pantai Cenang. By that time, we already rented a car which made us easier to go to the desired places. We've rented a Perodua Myvi which costs us just RM 70 per day, despite the peak season at Langkawi. For more info or contact number of the car renter, please do email me through maximaul@hotmail.com . They do provide cheap rents for cars at affordable prices for us budget travelers. They even provide services for island hopping, mangrove tours and all sort of other activities at Pulau Langkawi.

Pantai Cenang,
The location is strategic where you can shop, dine, relax at the beaches, and meet new people along the way. This is the place where you would like to hang out and meet with other foreigners. There are plenty of accommodations for you to chose from and please do choose wisely. The prices ranges from RM80-RM230 per night for a budget accommodation and RM400-RM1000 for a first class 5-Star Resort. What you pay, is what you get. We've decided to stay at Malibest Resort for a deluxe 2 bed chalet. It costs us RM120 per night. The place was not so bad since it is located in the heart of Pantai Cenang. The room was spacious for the both of us. It got all necessary things like the refrigerator, T.V with basic channels + Star World, ESPN and AXN. Its also a fully air-conditioned room with water heater. All the basic needs that you need while relaxing and enjoying your holiday.

As you all know, at Pantai Cenang the foods are really expensive. Below are the pics that I took of all the restaurants and shops that I could find that is worth the money I paid for. Rasa Restaurants are great value for money as far as I'm concerned. Although the price is a bit expensive, the food served at RASA are superb. If you like typical local and spicy cuisine, then this is the place for you. I highly recommend that you try their "Ikan Siakap Tiga Rasa Special".

Below are the pictures I captured at DiFiqa Restaurant. It is located just opposite of Sandy Beach Resort. This is another great restaurant that is worth your money to dine in. It serves local cuisine with the right price. I also highly recommend you to go here since this place is filled with foreigners trying the local Malay cuisine.

DiFiqa Restaurant

Another good place to dine at Cenang Beach is at Restaurant Bob. Now, this is a little bit tricky to find since it is a small restaurant which can occupy to about a 20-25 people at a time. It is located just alongside the road as you were heading towards Malibest Resort. The specialty of this restaurants is their "Ayam Masak Madu" or Chicken cooked with honey. This is also a great restaurant for budget-travelers.

Restaurant Bob

As for the convenience store at the area of Cenang Beach, i would recommend the Mawaddah Trading store. Why I recommend this store? As far as I was there, this was the cheapest store that I can find in Cenang Beach that sells convenience items. This shop is located just in front of Haji Ramli's Restaurant.

That concludes my "mini" research of the best restaurants and convenience store located at Cenang Beach. The next chapter will cover all the vacations experience and some random pictures from my vacation in Langkawi.

Canon EOS 1000D

I've been getting myself busy lately, and as a result i didn't have time to update my blog. With all the busy schedule and work, I've decided to reward myself with a DSLR Camera. All this while, I really wanted a DSLR and its about time for me to get one.
The camera that I bought is what you called a "beginner's" camera, where you teach yourself on how it works, finding perfect angles and lighting ,taking awesome and so on. I actually bought this camera in Langkawi. It cost me a total of RM 1899 complete with bags, tripod, and a screen protector. The seller also throws in a 0.45/1.5ft close-up lens which i only have to add RM300 for it. I was told if you buy the close-up lens separately, it would cost me around RM500.  Thinking it was a good bargain, I decided to buy it ( Without Hesitation ) Laughs*

2012 Nissan GT-R Facelift Or a New Spec M ?

Last year we saw the introduction of the limited-production GT-R SpecV model, a stripped down version of the already extreme Japanese supercar designed for hardcore club racers and performance nuts. These latest spy shots show the easily recognizable supercar testing at the Nurburgring race track in Germany and wearing a set of new bumpers.
So what could this model testing at the Nurburgring be? Well, chances are it’s the facelifted 2012 Nissan GT-R, which is due to be unveiled this October.
    Check out the pics below.

The Worst Car Modifications in the World ?

We all like to personalize our vehicles, a little mascot hanging from the rear view mirror, bumper sticker, perhaps a spray job, but some people just take the whole theme to an extreme, spending huge amounts of cash on turning regular cars into monstrous beasts on four wheels.
Any modifications made to your vehicle should be disclosed to your insurer – and whilst some modifications, such as the reduction of exhaust emissions, are positively welcomed, others, including cherry bomb exhausts, super wide wheels and body kits, are not. So before you go ahead and pimp your ride, check your policy and compare car insurance providers to ensure you get the best possible coverage.
Here’s the round up of some of the most bizarre modifications on the road i can find in the net :

Suped up

This is a classic example of trying to turn a relatively rubbish car into something it just isn’t i.e. cool.
