Bananas & "Taik Ayam" ?

Another day at work for me on this hot Tuesday afternoon. Below are the pics of my "Lori Kebun"

My work vehicle.
Today the assignment was to ready the site with "taik ayam" or chicken manure to ensure that the soil is rich enough to be planted with pumpkin.

Workers stacking up the manure to be transported

Samad on top stacking it into place

Wak loading "taik ayam" into the lorry

Once the lorry is full, the manure is taken to the site where it will be unloaded and distributed through out the farm.

This is just a small pile, there is more where it came from!

The steps are simple basically. All we need to do is to pour some manure to the soil, and then loosen up the manure with the soil. Let it be for 1 week for it to settle down. Mind you, that fresh chicken manure is highly filled with ammonia gas.

Below is some of the picture from the farm. As you can see, the blue plastics that are hanging over the picture are specially made plastics to help getting rid of unwanted pest from infesting the bananas. Eg. fruit flies, grasshoppers. The type of bananas that I've planted is called "Pisang Berangan"

I really do enjoy working in the farms. Looking at all the green scenery and at the same time enjoys what nature has to offer. There will be lots and lots more of my daily routine as a farmer and i am looking foward to post it up here.
